The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has reportedly submitted the template for the planned new minimum wage to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This development comes after President Tinubu directed the minister to present the cost implications for a new minimum wage within 48 hours.
Addressing State House Correspondents after the meeting with the President, Mr. Edun assured that there was no cause for alarm.
He expressed confidence that the template he presented would form the fulcrum of further negotiations with the organized Labour.
Accompanied by the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Finance did not elaborate on the specific agenda of the meeting with the President.
However, it is widely speculated that the discussion at the meeting is linked to the template demanded by President Tinubu earlier.
The development has come at a critical time as the Tripartite Committee meeting faced challenges in discussing salient issues due to the failure of the federal government team to present new figures to the organized labour.
